Activity 5: God is Loving and Merciful

Using coloured pencils, pens, paints or another medium of your choice, to create a symbol or picture that represents forgiveness to you. Beneath the picture, explain how your image represents forgiveness. Describe how we can be reconciled with God.

Activity 1 - Freedom and Responsibility

  1. What do the words freedom and responsibility mean to you? How are they linked?
  2. Record three freedoms that you have in your life e.g. to play in your garden and three responsibilities that you have in your life e.g. to do the washing up.

Think about and then record:

  1. Which are more important to you? Why?
  2. Which are more important to your parents? Why?
  3. Can you have freedom without responsibility?

 

Activity 2 - The Ten Commandments

  1. Find out what the Ten Commandments are.
  2. How did God give us the Ten Commandments? Show these in your green home learning books.
  3. Which of the commandments do you think is the most important to Catholics today?
  4. Which do you think is most relevant to your own life?

    There are some resources on Google Classroom to help you with this.

 

Activity 3 -Using Freedom for Good

Now we know what freedom is, why is it important to use freedom for good?

Come up with a list of rules for using freedom for good. E.g. choose to be kind, choose to make time for others.

 

Activity 4 -  The Beatitudes

Research the eight Beatitudes from Matthew’s Gospel. Have a go at rewriting a modern version of the Beatitudes. Why are these important? What is the message of the Beatitudes? How could your version of the Beatitudes be used to influence the lives and attitudes of Catholics today?
