Reception September 2020
Welcome to St Peter's
Welcome to St Peter's. I am delighted that you have chosen our school for your child and I look forward to welcoming you and your child when school re-opens.
Over the next few weeks and months, we will share important updates and information about starting school here on our website and directly to you by post or email. If you have any questions about starting school, the key people to contact and their details are at the end of this message.
In the meantime, do have a look around our website where there is a wealth of information about our school and how it is organised. The sections most relevant to you can be accessed easily from the links on this page. You can visit the Virtual School to see more about what the children are doing while they are away from us. If you use social media then please follow our Facebook page to keep up to date with our school activities.
With best wishes,
Mr Richard McKenzie
*** New Parent Update - Thursday 25th June **
The recording of today's webinar is now available.
***New Parent Update Monday 22nd June***
Storytime Sessions for our new children taking place on 3rd and 10th July and led by Mrs Hartfield, our EYFS Lead.
The sessions will happen outside where possible (please bring a picnic blanket to sit on) but if the weather does not allow this they may need to take place in the school hall. Each story time session will last no longer than 30 minutes and there will be tea and coffee available for parents and carers.
To help maintain distancing, we are limiting the numbers of children to a maximum of 5 children per session with 1 parent accompanying them. If you have more than one child joining St Peter's in September, please book a place for each child. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate siblings for this event.
The booking link is here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/stpeterscatholicprimaryschool2/385851
If all the sessions are booked, we will be happy to add an additional session. We look forward to meeting you and your child and enjoying a story together.

*** New Parent Update Friday 19th June ***
Our Welcome to Reception 2020 information booklet can now be downloaded from the bottom of the page. Our aim is that all children have a smooth transition into St Peter’s and we hope that this booklet will answer as many questions as we are able to at this point.
The arrangements for children joining Reception, are being constantly reviewed to ensure that we adhere to government guidelines. We have, as yet, not received any further guidance about September opening from the Government and therefore cannot finalise any plans until we have a clear idea about what will be expected in terms of social distancing and class size.
**New Parent Update Friday 5th June**
This week, Mrs Hayley Hartfield, our Early Years Lead, has contacted all our new families by phone to introduce herself. This conversation is just a way to touch base with you and answer any questions that we can at this time. If you missed her call please email her at email@example.com with the best contact number for you. She will contact you with a time for you to have a conversation.
We also now have video guides for parents about:
As well as video guides created by our staff with information about:
- How to help prepare your child for school
- Supporting children with additional needs
- School uniform and what your child needs for school
The link to the page Video Guides for new parents is to your right.
**New Parent Update Wednesday 13th May**
We are creating a series of video guides to life at St Peter's for our new children and their families. The first two videos, A guide to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and School Uniform are now available here and more will follow shortly. We hope that you find them useful.
