Outreach Work
At St Peter's we believe that working in education is a vocation, a calling. We believe that we are called to share our ideas and expertise with others, and to collaborate with and support other educators.
We have two Specialist leaders of Education (SLEs) at St Peter's. SLEs are strong leaders, who have experience of effectively supporting and developing colleagues. They are experts in their field and can provide high quality support to those who need it most.
Mrs Marianne McDonnell is an SLE for the Early Years and Mrs Jacqui Shabankareh is an SLE for SEND. They both work with Paradigm Teaching school and you can read their profiles here.
Professional Networks
Our staff are members of several local and Deanery groups where teachers from many different schools come together to share expertise. If you work in education and would like to speak to us about any aspect of our Teaching and Learning at St Peter's, please call us or contact the school office. office@stpeters-leatherhead.surrey.sch.uk We would love to hear from you.

Past events
Mrs McDonnell was invited to speak about our approach to Remote Learning across the school but specifically in EYFS during the summer 2020 Lockdown at a webinar for Surrey Leaders. (12:43- 24:10)
Published Work
In 2018-19 Mrs Hayley Hartfield (EYFS Lead) and Miss Holly Skinner (KS1 Lead) worked with Suzie to develop and provide case studies on how allowing children to access cookery during their independent play supports learning. These case studies from our school were featured in her book Inspiring Learning through cooking.
Early Years Mathematics
Video Resources for EYFS Practitioners
During 2017, Mrs McDonnell (Specialist Leader of Education for EYFS) led a project for the Bucks, Berks and Oxon, Surrey Plus and Sussex Maths Hubs looking at Early Years maths. The aim was to develop video resources to support teachers’ and parents’ understanding of how children acquire skills in maths.
The videos use footage of children working with their teachers in their usual classroom environments so that you can see the types of activities and questions that are used to help develop the children’s understanding of each concept. Each video also contains a reflection, which explores further the learning behind each mathematical concept along with a range of ideas to support teachers and parents in creating playful, maths opportunities for children.
Taking part in the project were four experienced Early Years teachers and phase leaders, including our own Mrs Hartfield and Miss Skinner (who left us last year) who worked together to develop this resource. We hope that you find the videos informative.
